Genesis Robotics Design Engineer (Motors) Co-op Spring 2022


Genesis has a unique new opportunity for a Motor Design Engineer Co-op Student looking to contribute to a truly unique business environment. You will help us build a world-class Motor Design operation. The ideal candidate will have a creative approach to problem solving and can help guide us as we commercialize our inventive core actuation (electric motors, gears, combined actuators) technologies.

You will be pivotal in developing best practices as we scale our Motor Design capability and capacity. Reporting to the team lead, you will collaborate with high-calibre engineering professionals as well as a talented array of technologists from multiple disciplines.


·Work with innovation team to refine existing designs as well as innovate net-new designs

·Interact with team leads during design phase to ensure proof of concept prototypes are feasible and can be manufactured successfully. This includes normal interaction with our machine shop team

·Work directly with our core electric motor and gear-box technologies as we continue optimize the design envelope and work with customers on implementation

·Design CAD models using Solidworks

·Use creative problem-solving skills to deliver design objectives in a timely manner


·Excellent written and spoken communication 

·Preference given to candidates experienced with rotating machines and/or power electronics

·Experience in understanding and working with conceptual or visual ideas and converting them into Solidworks CAD models for successful operation

·Creative approach to problem solving and solution optimization

·Track record for successfully thinking outside-of-the-box
