Genesis Robotics Electric Machine Design Co-op Spring 2022

Description

Genesis has a unique new opportunity for an Electric Machine Design Co-op Student looking to contribute to a truly unique business environment. You will help us build a world-class Electric Machine Design operation. The ideal candidate will have a creative approach to problem solving and can help guide us as we commercialize our inventive core actuation (electric motors, gears, combined actuators) technologies.

You will be pivotal in developing best practices as we scale our EMD capability and capacity. Reporting to the Electric machine design (EMD) team lead, you will collaborate with high-calibre engineering professionals as well as a talented array of technologists from multiple disciplines.

      WHAT TO EXPECT:    

       ·Work in close collaboration with the electric machine design team to do the following:

        Enhance the capability of an electric-motor performance-characterization tool using test data and models.

        Build automation tooling for post-processing test data.

        Collaborate with Engineers to develop a Python-based platform

        Demonstrate and enhance the company’s key Guiding Principles of Humility, Self-Actualization, Principled Entrepreneurship, Transformation, Respect, Knowledge, Integrity, and Stewardship & Compliance.

      WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 3rd or 4th year student in engineering physics, mechanical engineering, or mechatronics.
  • Working knowledge of Python and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
  • Ability to effectively summarize complex information to a wide audience.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a commitment to attention to detaill

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
  • ·Basic knowledge of electrical machines, electromagnetics, and heat transfer.

    ·Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in object-oriented languages and database querying languages.

    ·Experience dealing with large, complex, and multi-disciplinary datasets.

    ·Strong hands-on ability and experience in a prototyping shop environment

    ·Excellent collaborator with proven ability to work effectively with a dynamic, energetic, and respectful team
