Georgia-Pacific’s Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (“SS&P”) organization is responsible for the strategic category management, sourcing and procuring the critical supplies and materials that support more than 140 locations across the US. The SS&P organization is currently undergoing an exciting transformation where we are partnering with our business partners and leveraging best practices to build internal capabilities that uniquely position the team to improve decision making capabilities and capture significant spend and efficiency opportunities. This effort is a critical element in Georgia-Pacific’s continuous transformation. It is an exciting time to be part of a growing team and at the center of the transformation to help mold the future state of the SS&P organization! 

The Sourcing Specialist will sit within the Sourcing by Design team, which was recently formed within SS&P to provide more disciplined and rigorous economic thinking, strategic and analytical support for sourcing decisions. More specifically, the Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for driving end to end service excellence within the sourcing process. This person will be accountable for executing the sourcing strategy and events for assigned categories. We partner closely with business unit leaders, legal, compliance, among other supporting capabilities to optimize risk in line with organizational risk philosophy and maximize long-term operational and financial value. Individuals will need to be able to apply analytics and strong economic thinking to identify potential opportunities, evaluate complex sourcing problems and clearly communicate insights to a broad set of stakeholders. 


What You Will Do In Your Role: 

  • Project manage data-gathering required to develop category fact base, which will be leveraged in identifying potential sourcing opportunities and to shape the overall category strategy 
  • Work closely with the Category Owners to understand strategic direction, demand requirements/business objectives, priorities for sourcing initiatives, and idea generation to determine long-term value opportunities to improve the Total Cost of Ownership of the category 
  • Design, develop and manage relevant RFx events for associated sourcing opportunities – understand stakeholder needs to develop optimal sourcing solution 
  • Identify new sources of supply 
  • Monitor, analyze, and report performance throughout the sourcing execution process to associated category stakeholders 
  • Post RFP, execute effective bid and scenario analyses through e-Sourcing platform along with customized analyses depending on category need/opportunity 
  • Partner with Category Leaders and other stakeholders to develop business award scenarios and drive alignment of recommended path forward 
  • Drive development of best-practices and continuous improvement opportunities in your individual responsibilities and team functions 
  • Be a change agent – Identify new tools, analyses, strategies, etc. to drive continuous transformation within the SS&P organization 

The Experience You Will Bring: 


  • Must be eligible for full-time employment by June 2023.
  • Able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.


  • Significant experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint 

  • Ability to influence others and drive projects forward 

  • Ability to manage and analyze large datasets
